Certainly there are many myths about Alaskan cruises, and during my time working in the travel industry, I found all of them. So to clarify things, I have prepared this list of 10 myths about Alaskan cruises.
When you take an Alaskan cruise, the experience is unforgettable - the range of shore excursions fascinating exciting cities along the route are wonderfully picturesque, and the scenery is simply spectacular. As for me, is the most incredible scenery anywhere in the world.
An Alaska vacation is one you will remember for the rest of his life. Alaska certainly challenge many of their preconceptions. Is a place that exceeds all expectations.
So without further ado, let's move right to the myth busting.
1. You will see Aurora Borealis
The possibility exists that you could catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) at some time during their cruise, but the odds are definitely against it. You can increase your chances of witnessing the Aurora Borealis by including an interior tour that stops at Fairbanks or by scheduling your cruise from the beginning or the end of the season.
2. The weather in September and May is too cold
The Inside Passage actually has a relatively mild maritime climate, moderate, more like Seattle in northern Alaska. The temperature along the Inside Passage only varies about ten degrees cooler part of the cruise season in May and late September to the hottest time of summer when you can get up discharge of 60.
3. Passports are not required for an Alaska cruise
From 2009, passports will be required for all Alaska cruise ship passengers. In fact, everyone who flies in and out of Vancouver from the U.S. is required to have a passport for a number of years. Then become a favor and get your passport early.
4. Constantly raining
Definitely it rains quite a bit on the southern coast of Alaska. In fact, without rain, there would be lush rainforest or breathtaking waterfalls and glaciers. But still, it is very likely to experience a mix of rain and the sun during the cruise.
5. It is always cheaper if Seattle cruises
Ultimately, it is often less expensive flights to Seattle than is to fly to Anchorage or Vancouver. However, the money you save on flights can be devoured by higher cruise fares from Seattle trips often cost a bit more.
6. The front of the boat is best for people with motion sickness
Neither the bow (front) or the upper floors Ship is the best option if you suffer from motion sickness. In contrast, people who care about the dizziness might consider booking cabins on the lower floors of the ship, where there is less movement.
7. It is possible to make cell phone calls on an Alaskan cruise
It is true that you should be able use your cell phone in some port cities (especially in Juneau). However, there is little chance of your phone receives a signal in some remote segments of the cruise.
8. The left (or right) of the ship is better
Many people planning Alaska cruises seems be under the impression that the right side of the boat is much better in a north of the Gulf of Alaska cruise (and the left side is higher than southbound cruise). Indeed, there is a period of about 1-2 days when the ship is at sea in the Gulf of Alaska (assuming you have booked a cruise in a way). In those days, if the coast is not covered in clouds (as often is), you must have a better view of the rooms overlooking the coast. But for the rest of the cruise, the views of both sides of the ship are often just as wonderful.
9. You can save money by booking last minute
While shopping last Time can get great deals on Caribbean cruises, it really does not apply to Alaska cruises. Alaska ships often sell out well in advance for cruises in July and August. If you are really looking for a last-second, may be able to find one in May or September, but might have to settle with an inside cabin.
10. You can see polar bears in the cruise
While there are many incredible sights you see a step or on the Gulf of Alaska cruise, you will not see any polar bears. These bears live almost exclusively in massive ice flows arctic in the northernmost region of Alaska. The cruise route focuses on the south-central Alaska. However, you may see brown bears in his cruiser, which are very common in the lower part of Alaska and an incredible view.
