Kid Friendly Cruise

Kid Friendly Cruise

Will pre-teen children enjoy a trip to the Galapagos?

I'm considering taking my family, including a preteen boy, to the Galapagos Islands for a cruise where we hike on the islands every day and eat and sleep on the boat at night. Are the Galapagos - or cruises there - kid-friendly?

It depends on how well behaved your son is...you need a lot of discipline in the Galapagos - stay on marked paths, don't touch/disturb the wildlife (even if it comes up to you), no litter AT ALL etc etc. and for the most part you may not be able to just wander off at will, so he'll have to stay with the tour group each time you go ashore. It's not like being at the zoo.

That said, if he's aware of the restrictions, is really interested in nature/wildlife and is able to abide by the rules, it would be a fantastic opportunity. I suspect that many tour operators will not take him though.

5 Kid Friendly Vacation Ideas

If you are going to be taking a vacation and you have kids you might want to consider these 5 ideas. They are all great places to take kids for a relaxing and fun vacation.

  1. A Disney Park: Whether it is Disney Land or Disney World your kids will definitely have a blast at these parks, adults have also been known to enjoy themselves. One thing you may want to consider is waiting to your children are a little older though. These parks involve a lot of walking and you want to make sure they can enjoy the rides.
  2. An Amusement Park: Amusement parks are very similar to the Disney parks but you can usually do them for much cheaper. Even if you decide to do a multiple city vacation and visit a few different parks it can be a very affordable vacation, or you could go for a fun one day trip.
  3. A Cruise: Cruise are great for family vacations. Many people think that cruises can be expensive, but if you do your homework you can get a really good deal. There are also plenty of things to do on the ships  and in port for kids. It is truly a vacation they will remember for a long time.
  4. Visit Family: This may not seem like the most "fun" or exotic vacation, but who is more important than family? If you have family that lives in a different city than you and you haven't seen them lately it would be really nice for both of you. It would also show your child the importance of family.
  5. The Beach: The beach is a great place to take kids on vacation. It's a fun and relaxing place, and if you do it right it can be fairly affordable.

So, if you are going to be planning a vacation and you will be traveling with kids, consider these five ideas.
