should i purchase a 1993 Civic EX Coupe as a first car?
Hi i'm currently looking at a 1993 Civic EX coupe. Its at a dealership for $4,990 as their asking price. This would be my first car if i purchased it. but i was wondering if the price was worth it or should i try and bargain it down.
It has 157,283 miles on it, a clean carfax history, and has passed all its emissions inspections and never had trouble. It's automatic transmition with FWD, and a 4-Cyl. 1.6L VTEC Engine. It has P/S, power windows, Cruise control, power locks, a Cd player, a moon roof, alloy wheels, and A/C.
I was just wondering if it was worth it for the price. Since it does have a lot of miles and is almost 15 years old.
And does anyone have any idea how much insurance would be for an 17 year old driver on this type of car?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in Advance!
ok first off, that particular model of civic is excellent and great quality reviews and gets great mileage, AND is easy to work on if youre inclined to do so. thats definitely too much for it tho. look underneath the car for rust. try to get one that has been oil sprayed, cuz if it hasnt been, and its that old, lines and things will start to rust and break around this time. unless of course you live somewhere dry like arizona or whatever.
bottom line, its a great model of car, but you can always find a cheaper one. i recommend the autotrader website. i think its just autotrader.com. put in honda civic 1992-1995, and your price range. see if you can get virtually the same car for cheaper. even if you have to drive to the nearest big city, you could save yourself a thousand bucks here or there. i agree it should be closer to 3000. dont be scared of high mileage either. ive got a 1992 honda prelude with 380 000 on it and it runs great. ive had cars with extremely low milage that ended up being crap.
hondas are the best all around car you can get. maybe toyota as well, but i think honda is most efficient. id say reliability-wise they are even better than cars like bmw and mercedes.
since its your first car, make sure you get all the fluids changed right when you buy it so you knows its done. especially the transmission fluid. lots of people dont change it and itll bite you in the a$s later. its best just to have it changed and then you can have peace of mind knowing your car isnt going to give you grief that could have been prevented. hondas will last forever if you take care of them.
as for insurance, depends on where exactly you live. itll vary from place to place. if you live in canada id recommend belairdirect. they are like half the price of anywhere else. maybe they are in the states as well, im not sure.
How to Locate Best Bargain Cruises Online
If you’ve been dreaming of going on a cruise but don’t want to spend mega bucks for it, there are some tips on how to locate the best bargain cruises.
Tip # 1: Start surfing the Internet. Online shopping has become a common point of reference for most consumers. The same holds true for travelers looking to buy a cruise package for less money. There are numerous bargain cruises begging to be booked online. In fact if you type “bargain cruises” on any search box, you’ll get about 263,000 pages that you can click on.
Tip # 2: Don’t book the first bargain cruise that you’re attracted to. Some online shoppers are easily taken in by marketing hype and splashy photos on the Web that they neglect to do the very first thing they should be doing: comparison shopping. Like I said earlier, the substantial number of cruise bargains being advertised on the Web is a good enough reason why you should compare prices.
Tip # 3: Don’t rely solely on the price factor. Compare costs with respect to type of airline, hotel accommodations, meal plans, amenities offered (such as baggage handling and airport shuttles) and activities on board.
Tip # 4: Decide what kind of cruise you want and start your bargain hunting from there. For instance you have Alaska cruises (one of the most popular), Mexico cruises, Mediterranean cruises, singles cruises, celebrity cruises, and Disney cruise packages. Most cruise companies will offer considerable discounts at the last minute just to ensure full capacity. To them, selling a cabin at half price is much better than having an empty cabin during the entire length of the cruise. So speak to your cruise adviser and request that you be notified of last minute bargain cruises.
Tip # 5: Some online cruise sellers will usually post their cruise deals – look on their web site for either “deals”, “last minute deals”, “bargain cruises”, etc. Some of the cruise fares start as low as $300.00. Imagine paying that price versus someone who booked the same cruise for $1,500.00!
As for Disney cruise packages, note that there are four common destinations: the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mediterranean and the Mexican Riviera. Even if they only cover four destinations and have a small fleet of ships, Disney cruises are an excellent way to take the whole family for a relaxing vacation.
When booking a Disney cruise package, you have to key in the following information so that the appropriate cruise information is sent to you:
• If you require air transportation
• Your airport of origin
• Dates of your intended vacation
• How many adults and children are travelling
Disney cruises last anywhere from three days to 14-day cruises to selected European destinations.

I make this assertion with the most perfect confidence, because Buxton's Lane happens to afford one of the most charming walks in that charming neighbourhood; and no one can well be a sojourner for any length of time in Weymouth without discovering this fact for him or herself, either through inquiry or by means of personal exploration. |

While he is yet a baby lying in his cradle, he hears the dull, far-off boom of the breakers; when he is older, he wanders by the sandy shore, watching the waves that come plunging up the beach like white-maned sea-horses, as Thoreau calls them; his eye follows the lessening sail as it fades into the blue horizon, and he burns for the time when he shall stand on the quarter-deck of his own ship, and go sailing proudly across that mysterious waste of waters. |

![]() The Cruise Of The Alabama And The Sumter - Geo W Carleton List Price: See Reviews For This Product DescriptionThe President of the American States in Confederation was gathering an army for the defence of Southern liberty. Where valour is a national inheritance, and an enthusiastic unanimity prevails, this will not prove a difficult task. It is otherwise with the formation of a navy. Soldiers of Southern blood had thrown up their commissions in a body; but sailors love their ships as well as their country, and appear to owe some allegiance to them likewise. Nevertheless, if Mr. Davis had not a great choice of officers, he had eminent men to serve him, as the young history of the South has abundantly shown. To obtain experienced and trusty seamen was easier to him in such a crisis than to give them a command. The Atlantic and the ports of America were ruled at that time absolutely by President Lincoln. The South had not a voice upon the sea. The merchants of New York and Boston looked upon the war as something which concerned them very little. Not a dream of any damage possibly to be inflicted on them, disturbed the serenity of their votes for the invasion of the South. Their fleets entered harbour proudly; their marine swam the ocean unmolested. Though there was war imminent, the insurance offices were content to maintain their terms upon a peace standard. What, indeed, was to be feared? The South had not a single vessel. Here and there a packet-steamer might be caught up and armed, but what would they avail against such fleet and powerful ships as the Brooklyn, the Powhattan, and dozens of others? There was, then, a condition of perfect security, according to the ideas of all American commercial men. The arrangement, as they understood it, was that they were to strike the blow, and that no one was to give them the value in return. It happened that Mr. Davis was of another mind. He perceived where a blow could be struck, on his part, with terrible emphasis, and how. The obstacles in his way were colossal; but we have learnt that obstacles do not appal his indomitable genius. On the 14th February, 1861, Captain Semmes, being then at his residence in the city of Washington, a Commander in the Federal navy, received the following telegram from Montgomery:-- SIR,--On behalf of the Committee on Naval Affairs, I beg leave to request that you will repair to this place at your earliest convenience.Download The Cruise Of The Alabama And The Sumter Now! |
